If this doesn't make you laugh out loud...
...or at least smile, I don't think I can help you.
A very unique music video with a subtle message. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/H-fvaBmpAtY&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/H-fvaBmpAtY&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
You do know that's a cover for a very old John Lee Hooker blues song?
YouTube - ‪John Lee Hooker - Rock Me Baby‬‎ |
Well, the music is good and the footage is OK but not really sure where you are going with this. I guess you can't help me

Sorry, I couldn't make it past 0:47.

I was at this concert in big D... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/F4OXrmxDp44&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/F4OXrmxDp44&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I like some JLH. Boom! Boom!

add me to the "can't be helped" pile. Is the point the irony about rocking and getting old with footage of Black Sabbath, Johnny Winter, Wyman, etc? An ok version of the song but there are better ones imho. And some neat old clips but the visuals don't really go anywhere and the editing gets repetitive/boring pretty quickly. But maybe that is the point/irony.

Might help if the sound was synched properly. I could listen to just the instrumental version of that, the break was pretty good.
I'd like to try my hand at the mixing board with that group. I think I'd take the harp down a notch. Maybe bring up the bass. |
Lordy, some of those guys do get a lot out of 3 chords. I've been listening to BB, Albert, EC, SRV and many others since the 60's and never get tired of it.
|
I think those two videos really sum up the difference between BB & John Lee Hooker. BB King puts on a great show... it's a polished product. He's a really a great showman.
John Lee Hooker, not as polished, refined, or showy... but he is like the blues distilled. It just grunts and rumbles right out of him. I can listen to BB for about an hour before I'm tapped out and feel like I'm just hearing a bunch of blues standards & cliches. OTOH, I can (and often do) listen to nothing but JLH for days on end, and always feel like I'm catching snapshops of something personal and genuine Quote:

It was painful, wasn't it?

Meh... I thought you guys would be right on top of it... maybe some blues fans and/or blues players need to see it... maybe targa911S will check in... I would be surprised if it didn't ring the same bell for him that it did for me.
