Brake calipers shot at 60k?
Really? Toyota tells me I need new calipers and rotors because the pads are not retracting properly. At 60k miles? WTF?

Possible, how old is the fluid? Were the pads down to metal?

All you need is a torn dust boot and they put a rebuilt one on. They don't repair them.

I just inherited a Toyota Camry from my Dad. At about 100,000km the rear calipers were rebuilt by Toyota. As part of certifying the car I was told it needed new rear calipers (the car is now at 200,000km.) When I looked at the price of the rebuilt caliper its cheaper than the cost my dad paid to rebuild them 6 or 7 years ago. I have also had to replace rear calipers on a Mazda I used to own. I think its part of the joys of living in the rust belt.
