Fake Rolex and Breitling watches

So there's a lot of places to buy the fake watches here in the Kingdom. My son wants one - of each model! I tried to find out what would happen if I brought those home with me on the plane. I don't think I want to take a chance. From what I've read, you can bring ONE "replica" watch with you, but you have to declare it.

Does anyone have any info on this?

These watches are not well made, but they have an actual movement - not quartz. I've got a real Rolex. You can tell these are not real, but they're fun to own and cost about $30.

I work with a guy that has an ebay business on the side. He works pretty hard to make sure that he never portrays what he's selling as what they are copies of. He sells phones that look just like an iPhone 3 (4 is coming soon). He's also got a fake Breitling or two. They look decent and are auto watches. I'm not sure what he sells them for. Probably more than $30.

You don't have to declare things that are your personal articles of clothing.... only things that you are importing as gift or for resale.

Put one on your wrist. Put the other in your shaving kit bag. *IF* asked, they are your personal watches. Period.

There are two mail services here. One is DHL and they wanted about $110 to mail a small box to TX. The other was the Saudi Mail service. They only want about $12 for the same box, but there's no garauntee with them. I'll try with a couple and see what happens.

I'll also try the wear one and pack one trick. The watches are pretty cool. Lots of extra dials that "work".

Why are there any restrictions? If some idiot wants to waste his money on fake watches.... Why not let them?

$30 for a fake Rolex? If the thing doesn't break right away, it would be a fun gift for my teenage nephew.

My old Uncle made a ton of money just as he was to retire. Every time I would visit him I would bring a "Chinatown rolex". Diver model, gold, bling-bling. He loved them!

Funny thing is - because he was doing well, all the sons-in-law and old boys around the pub assumed they were real! Ha!

As for flying into the USA? I would hope they have their focus on bigger fish

One per family member / suitcase should be OK..

As long as you bought it from a guy walking down the strip you should be fine.

Kind of apples and oranges there, isn't it?

Lots of folks can see that a Porsche 911 does a better job than a Hyundai Tiburon at its primary purpose: performance driving.

But lots of people can also see that a simple quartz Timex will outperform a Rolex at its primary purpose: performance timing.

I value the idea of engineering, and marvel that something mechanical can approach the accuracy of something electronic. But I really just don't see the appeal of expensive watches. They seem fussy and old-fashioned to me rather than classic. But lots of people keep buying new ones, and taste isn't absolute. I guess all our differences are what make the world go around, and lead to the variety in life.

Still, as much fun as an open cockpit biplane might be, when I go back to Brisbane next month, I'll choose a modern Boeing. Some modern things are just better, and, in my mind, those things include electronic watches.

That's impossible. The one on Pawn Stars says open 24 hours right on the sign.

There is nothing like the real thing.

This one is mine. It's real and once you've had one of these on your wrist you'll understand why people are willing to pay the price of a real Rolex.

I bought it second hand from a pawn shop. It was about 1/3 the price of new.
According to the papers and serial number it was made in 2001.
I actually prefer mine to the current model as the changed the strap attachment points so the new one is slightly wider in this area.

A friend of mine bought one from a street vendor in S Korea thirteen years ago. The lettering and markers fell off less than a week after purchase.
