Revolving head for a multi-spindle screw machine. Basically a 5-spindle lathe.

I think if you're going to post a photo like that, you have to tell us what the hell the item is.

porsche4life 08-18-2010 06:09 PM

Did you actually build it though?

dyhunter 08-18-2010 06:19 PM

Red do you work for Hardinge?

masraum 08-18-2010 06:39 PM

It's obviously a mechanism for a mechanical pencil that has 5 different colored "leads".

Looks a lot to me like the bolt mechanism on a 5-barreled gatling gun.

Eric Coffey 08-18-2010 08:10 PM

It's clearly the revised Death Star ray assembly.

also used on BMW's paris to dakar bikes. they never turn them off without that with them. just ask rick lee when the magic button doesnt work.

Davenport. Hardinge is just down the road a bit.

M.D. Holloway 08-19-2010 08:51 AM

I understand the need to have a mop integrated into an axe but why the radio?

Police scanner which you probably want if you need a mop after using an ax or hatchet

You do? I have used both a mop & an axe but I have never even once thought "gee this mop need an axe” or wile swinging an axe “man I need a mop”

The radio I can understand. I don’t think it would last long with the axe cutting fire wood.

You need to watch more horror movies. A mop makes perfect sense. :D

To provide music to aid in establishing efficient chopping/mopping rhythms.

Earlier models had metronomes which tended to fail at the first blow.

Later atempts using vacuum tube radios always failed on the first blow.

It wasn't until the advent of the relatively shock resistant transistor that the long sought after dream of musically enhanced chopping/mopping efficiency was finally realized.

You understand the need for a mop?

Edit: Oh, yeah (just read a few posts that cleared that up for me).
