Unlocking Cell Phone....Help

Hello all,
Have a Blackberry Pearl and want it unlocked, has anyone gone ahead and
unlocked their cell, been told it is easy but can't find any information on how to do it????? Anyone ?? How about the cons of doing this, are there any?
