Mobil-1 - $20 for 5-quarts at Wally Mart

I know, I know... I usually don't shop there but it's close by and I just had to run and get some paper towels and some dish soap. Didn't feel like running to Target (which is about 3x as far). I felt the need to check the oil aisle and hey - pretty good deal.

I cleaned out their stock of 15w50. I think I'm set for oil changes on the M.B. and my wife's car for about the next three or four years. :)

Go get 'em. Given the stuff usually runs $7 or $8 a quart, this is a pretty good deal.

Thanks for the heads up....use the same for the wifes Benz.

McLovin 08-21-2010 05:21 PM

Damn, just missed that. Just paid $7.50/qt for 10 qts. at Pep Boys 2 days ago.

(Although I don't think there's a walmart with 20 miles of my house).

Excuses, excuses.....we all know you were in there looking for pampers and mullet ideas. :)

Just stopped by today and got some more for the track car. It's $21 where I am and that's cheaper than the 4 qt jug at Autozone/Advance. Only problem is, they are usually short on 15w50....today was no exception...I had to hunt, but found the stash in the wrong place.

Is the 15w-50 mobil ok for the flat tappet engines?

As the old joke goes..."What do old women's beavers taste like?"

Depends: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Files/Mobil_1_Product_Guide.pdf

Thanks for the reminder to go to walmart... I haven't bought them out of 9mm in a few weeks...

Porsche-O-Phile 08-22-2010 05:01 PM

LOL! I suppose it's time I bought another couple thousand rounds myself!

I have to get me a reloading press one of these days!

wcc 08-22-2010 05:13 PM

It'is always about $20 for 5 quarts......

Rick Lee 08-22-2010 06:09 PM

Mobil 1 15w-50 is unobtanium around here. I bought four of the big jugs for $90 out the door at the Wal-Mart in Henderson, NV last week. Total steal and I'm set for at least a year between bike and 993 now.

Porsche-O-Phile 08-23-2010 04:19 AM

Heh, heh... you said "big jugs"

M.D. Holloway 08-23-2010 05:39 AM

check the API seal, prolly a CI4 oil which means their git'n rid of old stock - ExxMo's been having fire sales lately. The oil is fine for you car, just not good for 2007+ diesel engines...

I've noticed that too. They seem to have only the 40w stuff in the 5-quarts.

VaSteve 07-23-2011 10:54 AM

The walmart doesn't seem to be stocking this any longer. Anyone know anything or find it locally in your area in the big jugs?

Rick Lee 07-23-2011 11:01 AM

Mobil 1 15W50 in 5 qt. jugs is no more. I've switched to Motul. It's cheaper to have it delivered than to pay for individual qt. bottles of Mobil 1. Eff Mobil 1. Nice knowin' ya.

VaSteve 07-23-2011 01:49 PM

Where you get it, RL?

Rick Lee 07-23-2011 02:35 PM

Motorspot.com, but same price on eBay too.
