James for the sake of this conversation I stated earlier that I don't know really how this system is designed . I also said I was going to call and get as much information from the company tomorrow. At this point everything was purely speculation. I wish I had the answer now myself.

Mark, you were the one that brought up that this new 410 refrigerant can be used in an absorption mode. Nothing I read on that site states that.

From what I am reading on the site provided by the poster is a "hybrid" using what seems to be the best of both systems. By taking advantage of r410 refrigerant which has characteristics very close to Lithium Bromide they have been able to take advantage of Absorption chilling when the sun is out hence the 36 SEER rating and when temperature is lower Vapor Compression is used hence the 16 SEER rating. I am looking forward to speaking with someone at this company about this product on Monday.

I know James, I was trying to make sense of it. I was wondering out loud what would be appropriate for the heat source if the sun wasn't shining. If you consider the high head pressures required for r410 a that was possible heat source. But the bottom line it was all speculation nothing more.

Mark,

I appreciate your interest. I am finally getting ready to sign off on the construction of a new house and this could be a change of spec.

Cheers!

On a note that doesn't say much for this company, I tried to call and the phone was not in service. For now maybe we shall let that speak for itself

Sammy, Do you greet anything you don't understand with such criticism ? The original poster asked a question based on the website that he posted. Based on the information from that website the seller might have a viable product. Looking at the images and illustrations provided by the manufacture it doesn't seem like it would be 10 times larger or at this point not even ten times the cost. At this point more details are needed before it gets dismissed as a scam cause it has the word solar in it. I am well aware how refrigeration AC and Heat pumps work and I am sure others on this forum can figure it out.

Do you greet everything that you know nothing about and that seems to be too good to be true and seems to be total BS with such fantasy-world optimism?

IT IS A SCAM! IT IS A GERERATOR!
This will come out and make some folks look awfully foolish. PT Barnum has your name on his list.

Fore the record, I love technology and I love innovation.

I also hate low-lifes who make BS claims that are not based in science and I absolutely hate that so many others are so gullible that they can be easily duped in the name of "green".

I do not like that an obvious attempt is being made to dupe our entire society so that a few can get stinking rich, and they are succeeding because fools and their money are sop easily parted in the name of green.

I personally know someone who borrowed a large sum of money at 6% interest (equity loan) and spent it on a "green energy" product that has at most a 2% return on investment (if he's lucky) and has a shorter useable lifespan than the actual term of the loan, and he has managed to convince himself that he did the right thing and he tries to convince others!
He tried to tell me how smart he was and when I explained it to him in real life terms, he got defensive and angry.
Lots O'that going around.

Sammy, Redbeard, I had the same thoughts, but, TimT made it VERY clear that he does NOT want to understand thermodynamics. ...esp from someone with more than 17k posts.

You wanna believe in pixie dust and spend your hard earned money on magic beans? Go for it.

I'll be back eventually to say I told you so. ;)

Sammy, I assumed you would have a ball with this one, go on you earned it. I did want to wait until I spoke with someone at that particular company before I passed judgement. I have been designing and installing Geothermal Systems for a little over 15 Years now, When I started that's what everyone said "Scam". I like to at least give things the benefit of a conversation before I run and declare a scam.

ErVikingo 08-23-2010 10:05 AM

Thanks Mark. Not a good sign indeed.

Back to conventional systems.

Cheers!
