Porsche sightings: Anyone we know?

Stopped for a coffee in St George this AM, about 40 minutes from the Maine/ New Brunswick border. When I was pulling into the parking lot, I blurted out "Oh $hit, cool, a speedster replica!"

um, nope!

Don't see many of these around here:

Sure brightened my day. Mrs Notfarnow is generally oblivious to anything automotive, but it even got her worked up. Had to break it to her that a 356 is out of our league.

Anyone we know?

Love that Meissen Blau A coupe and the green T6 hardtop. None of them are familiar to me.

2ND Choice after the early S would be a 356SC Cab...or dreamin a Speedster....

NEVER tell your wife that a car is out of your league. Pledge to her that you'll GET her that car if it's the last thing you do . . . and proceed to buy it one piece at a time for a future Pelican build thread.

Or build a buck and start hammering one out. Either method works.

I would agree, except she is more in the "oh those are cute" camp than the "I REALLY WANT ONE" camp.

If I ever went the 356 route, it would be a mild outlaw coupe with a 911 engine. I'd want to build it myself, and that would take YEARS. I want a daily driver 911, preferably a longhood, first and foremost

That A coupe is a heart warming sweetheart...damn, it's such a pure shape!

Agreed!

Good candidate for an outlaw:

Although I have often wondered if a FG speedster body, a cut 356a coupe roof & a donor 911 tub wouldn't be the best way to make a low-rent 356 hotrod

A's make the best Outlaws. B's and C's are OK but the lines on the early cars are better IMO. Here's a pic of my PreA.....

Probably blasphemy on my part, but I prefer the lines of the A coupe over even the iconic speedster.

Probably because it rains 4 feet a year here..

Me too!!!
I had a 55 Speedster ( a real one ) and as cool as can be....it was the most impractical car I've ever owned. Impossible to drive with the top up, and I'm 6-4 and sliding down in the seat as far as could, my head was still above the windshield. Just wish I'd kept it a while longer and sold it at STUPID money!

And.....you don't "need" a 911 motor in a 356 to have fun. My outlaw had a type IV 2 liter built out to about 2.7 around 220 +/- hp and weighed 1500 lbs. VERY fast!

Wife & I saw this parked on Hampton Beach earlier this year. Notice the NH antique plate. First question of course was "is it a replica?" The real giveaway to its originality were the exterior trim pieces and then a look at the interior. We left as the couple came back from a stroll on the beach. Hopefully the owner will come forward and verify this?

Thumbs up One owner...

A Porsche buddy of mine got this on in Montreal brand new in 1963...

Just 20 younger than Das Babe He also use to have a 57 Speedster (I would give one of my balls for that).

Pretty hard to finish first at any show if he is there... Got him a new "Point Adjustment Sticker" to make sure that I'll never finish ahead of him...

At that show, out of 30 or so "European" as usual he took 1st, I manage to get 2nd.
