draining the swamp

My house is almost finished after the fire in Feb. The pool is the last thing on the list. We had a collection of bullfrogs as big as your hand inhabiting the pond. My daughter is a animal lover and couldn't stand to "take away thier home."
I struck a deal with the pool guys, 2 frogs=1 six pack. Unfortunately they only found one, but if I had the video camera going as these dudes were thrashing around trying to catch "el gordo guapo" I would have won the funniest home video contest.

After rescuing the frog he was gently released into a nearby bayou.

Did the frog legs really taste like chicken? Just asking...

Heel n Toe 08-26-2010 10:18 AM

That ain't a frog.

That's a bullfrog.

Heh heh... I'm sure you already know that, bivenator. :)

Love the pic... sent it to my sister... she played with frogs and toads when she was that age... loved 'em almost as much as her horses.

you need to get RWEBB's expert advice as to EXACTLY what genus class phylum species order of "FROG" that is before posting such NON scientific theories.

Gonna get warts .......................... ;)

Heel n Toe 08-26-2010 10:51 AM

If frogs or toads could cause warts, my sister would have 'em. She doesn't. :)

Yeah, just like they were about most of the other maxims they concocted... "lightning never strikes in the same place twice," "it's bad luck to walk under a ladder," etc. ;)

red-beard 08-26-2010 11:14 AM

Walking under a ladder is bad, cause people can drop stuff on you.

You can't go swimming for 30 minutes after you eat because you will get cramps and drown.

I hated that one. I have NEVER heard of anyone getting food cramps while swimming.

azasadny 08-26-2010 11:52 AM

Great pic of your daughter and the frog!

crustychief 08-26-2010 12:07 PM

Pretty cool! It is too bad the guys didn't get their beer.

aigel 08-26-2010 12:13 PM

We would have had frog legs on the BBQ at my house. ;)

What's the story on the pool? Did you move there with it looking like a swamp? Or did you let it get there.

Your #1 concern now must be to properly fence and lock the pool to protect your daughter. Drowning in the house pool is the #1 cause of death for young children in CA.

My sister replied and sent this pic... passing on a little bullfrog luv to her granddaughter...

I'm not superstitious, so I walk back under the ladder to counteract any bad juju that it might have created the first time....

No, dude, his house burned almost down. The pool just got neglected while the rebuild was going on. I think it's been 5-6 months.
