Kilometres per hour up here. 180 kph = 111 mph That stretch of road is 3 lanes in each direction with a 100 kph posted speed limit. "If a driver is caught going 50 kilometres over the speed limit, police have the power to impound the vehicle for seven days, issue a minimum $2,000 fine and suspend your driver's licence for seven days."

If some rotten bastard dumps his bytch on the freeway in front of me and trashes my car, I'm gonna be pissed. There's just no call for that.

Who's gonna pay for my wheel alignment if I run over her helmet?

Joe Bob 08-30-2010 07:13 AM

So, the witness says it was a sport bike.....

You might want to edit your post;)

Which reminds me of a story...A buddy was driving in Los Angeles during moderate traffic. Some d-bag on a motorcycle was weaving in/out of traffic lanes at speed and zigged when he should have zagged...side-swiped a car then fell over into the path of a box truck. Dual rear wheels drove right over his helmet. My buddy heard a "POP"...turned and saw the motorcyclist laying in the roadway, body intact, smashed helmet with goo running out of it. He was freaked out for awhile after that.

really? you dont feel knees next to your arse? i have given rides to great passengers and to horrible passengers..i have never needed to reach back for any confirmation. all i have had is sport bikes. and you know the person is back there. no mistaking it. not much room on a sport bike.

this is a horrible story.

When on surface streets, yes, the weight makes the bike handle differently. But at hwy. speeds, I really do have a constant fear of my wife falling off and I wouldn't know it. Of course, in China you see people riding motorcycles with a baby in their lap, a cigarette in one hand and a cell phone to their ear. So they're kind of fearless and my wife doesn't hold onto me like I'm a handlebar.

vash 08-30-2010 10:25 AM

you dont feel her knees next to your butt? giving a passenger a ride is a full contact sport..

i miss riding. i need this economy to bounce, and i am buying a new ride........

Using the pillion on back like chaff or flares... Wow, this guy's blatant disregard for human life and safety should send him away to someplace unpleasant for a very long time. There's a good chance he even saw the events unfold in his rearview mirror. Somebody will turn him in. Likely one of the dead girl's friends.

Jeff Higgins 08-30-2010 11:45 AM

Just a quick observation on the human condition: in some modern sportbike/gangsta wannabe/punk circles, this guy' stock just went up. He'll be some kind of ubran legend/hero.

imcarthur 09-04-2010 06:38 AM

A follow-up . . .

The dead passenger has been identified as a 40 year old Toronto woman. The biker has not been ID'd & is still at large.

Thanks for the update Ian. Let us know when the driver is apprehended. If she was 40 I doubt the guy is some gangsta type

"Police charged a 37-year-old man with manslaughter after a female passenger died when she fell off onto Hwy. 401 last month.

Ioana Bocunescu, 40, of Toronto, died at the scene after the driver of a motorcycle sped away from a Durham police cruiser that was attempting to pull it over on Hwy. 401 near Brock St. in Whitby on Aug. 27.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the incident. The SIU is called in on all cases of serious injury, death or sexual assault that involves police.

Rashid Soujah, from North York, is charged with manslaughter."

from thestar

They finally got him. Manslaughter is a just charge imho.

2nd thanks for the update. May he rot somewhere.

Joeaksa 09-19-2010 02:38 PM

Another thanks. Glad they really caught him but wonder how...

It's a Pg 7 story now, so by the time it comes to trial, no one will care to write about it. :(

There is a special place for someone like him! I just cannot fathom leaving her behind like that but I am not a self centered )@#$*)(@#)!#@. At least, I don't play one on tv or anything...

Not terribly difficult once they ID her. She had friends, etc. Detective work. (His fingerprints on her helmet, hers on the bike, DNA stuff, etc....)

Enough ironclad evidence to charge him is probably what took so long.

She probably was scared, but felt no pain, at least.

Awful story.
