LONG NYTs article about Porsche/VW merger
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/29/business/29porsche.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=porsche&st=cse
Good read. I won't post it here, it's pretty long.

Burn the fire.

So basically, expect more NARPs.
Cayennes, Panameras, Caymans... Everything but the "Flagship" I assume. Then again, wasn't the big merger to make production easier?

There was some talk at the time that Piech might put some strong support back into the Rennsport part of the marque. Seems like he was the race fan with the commuter car company, while Wiedeking was the commuter fan with the race car company...

When Peich "merged" VW and Audi, it was big news that he took something like 11 separate platforms and ended up with 4. Total.
There absolutely will be the same thing happening again. The 911 may even share a platform after a number of years. Will there even be a rear engine car in 5-6 years? Maybe not. It's going to happen. |
