Test drove a Ford Fiesta today...
But unfortunately, not with Jeremy Clarkson.

I have to admit, although I have never owned a GM product, and especially dislike the government's ownership of same, the Malibu I rented last week was very impressive. A great ride, with a very nice interior. Nice to the touch too.

The car matches your personality...

The little Fiesta, though a stripped model with an auto, had respectable oomph. A manual would be much more drivable IMO as automatic transmissions and little engines don't seem to play properly. Again, IMO.
The dealer, however, told me to forget about getting a 5-speed in Cali. No such luck. Yeah, at his dealership there would be no such luck. Otherwise, the car was very nice and very strong feeling. Good interior space despite the lack of fold flat rear seats. A bike would fit back there, front wheel off, no problem. The new Fusion, Edge and Explorer were also very easy on the eyes. Oddly, the car I liked the least aesthetically, was the Mustang. I'm just not into that slanted rear end. Maybe it takes time to get used to. |

These will be very cool little performance cars too when they come to the states this fall. Hopefully they won't cost as much as Mini Cooper S.

Did they quote you a price? I looked at the fiesta and the Mazda2... but AT $17-$18,000 a lot of money for such a small car. IMHO

I saw one with leather for $18K. Supposedly the Fiesta is selling well. |
To me, the new Focus seems to have much more promise.

The Baddies car is the same colour combo as mine:cool:

I've been looking for an old one to restore as a "city" car. It seems every last one on Earth has rusted away :(

I would buy a Focus RS, but they won't be sold in this country.
I have little to no interest in domestic offerings, can't think of one I would own. |

Got smacked in the face by torque steer after those mods. :D |

By then, I had a dealer, a manager and finance manager surrounded me as I sat at a table, saying for the fifth time "I'm not buying a car today." Unbelievable. It makes me not want to buy a Ford; at least through a dealer. |
The only ford I would buy is the Focus RS... But that can't be had in the states.
And 18k for a fiesta? Thats damn near Corolla money, and say what you want but the Corolla is the better car.... |
Ford took a bunch of the Fiestas from last year's Fiesta Movement campaign to Tim O'Neil's rally school and set up some 1 and 2 day programs. They're basically stock except for skid plates, gravel tires, slightly heavier suspension and roll cages. From the reports I've heard, everyone is impressed with the cars on the rally course.
O'Neil / Ford Racing Rally School . |
Fiesta....anything but...heh, good luck with that...I'll pass.
|
The only car I would sell my 2010 MazdaSpeed3 to get is the Focus RS, but it's not sold in the US. I see lots of Fiesta's driving around lately. Clarkson said they're made in Germany, but the ones in the US are made in Mexico...
