The South of France in a few pictures.

X-post from RL.

Got back last week from a two weeks trip to the French South East coast. Very enjoyable, Marseille was a very pleasant surprise.

Cassis, nice little harbour close to Marseille. Nothing fancy, no super rich posers like in St-Tropez (pictures to follow).

We spent a couple of days in a small village just North of St-Tropez, the quiet life. Very quiet and relaxing, amazing scenery.

Marseille was a great surprise. We had to spend one night in between rentals and the Novotel (excellent brand together with Sofitel) was just perfect. All the below pictures are taken from the dining terrace, wonderful food and great wine. Kids behaving well, a perfect evening.

The second and last week was spent in the bay of St Tropez. A way too expensive house we rented together with friends, the view was exceptional though, St Tropez on the other side of the water. Just a few hours after our arrival we saw an airshow over the bay. Patrouille de France and the Breitling jet team. All pictures from the garden.

One morning we woke up to see the Club Med 2, one of the largest sail cruise ships, lying in the bay. We had a close look at her but the sea was too bumpy to take pictures.

A few shots of some absolutely gorgeous sailing boats. Very majestic ships, even when lying still.

Saint-Tropez. Been there before a couple of times but the place never ceases to amaze me. You have to see it with your own eyes in order to believe it. Above all it simply is a very nice litlle village with some cosy, almost empty beaches.

The contrast between the very small fisher boats and the multi-million yachts is quite remarkable.

Some more pics of the harbour. Quite a few nice yachts but not the mega yachts you see in Antibes (unreal stuff there).

Some Porsche content...

This Riva caught my eye, sitting aboard a 225' yacht. More amazing was the speed boat on the port side.

Finally our little toy for the week, a friends 20' Capelli Rib. Excellent for wake boarding and snorkling.

The geology is absolutely stunning!! I could lose myself for days just studying that...

Unless of course, I got my hands on that Riva! What a honey!

Great photos! What camera are you using?

I love this corner of the world. Cassis is a gem. The endless numbers of noveau-riche Russians on the Cote d'Azure have changed place greatly in recent years—and not for the better IMO. Still.....

We really liked Cassis, didn't make it it to the Calanques unfortunately. We had lunch in the middle of the village, only one menu, explained by the chef. Wonderful.
Nouveau riche Russians are a nuissance but we didn't see too many, most of them seem to reside more East towards Cannes.

I used to drag around a Nikkon D70 but since last year I take a small Panasonic Lumix with me. Lumix FS62.
