Why they call it Labor Day weekend
 

Planning on a nice relaxing weekend, maybe a little flying etc. Wife shows up with a trunk full of paint, rollers, brushes, tape etc. Guess we?, I am painting a couple of rooms this weekend!

Tuesday morning back to 13hr days at work, yippie!!

I'd a been like...'Have fun with that! I'm going flying.'

(don't tell my wife I said that please)

labor as in "LABOR", or union work holiday. That is where the holiday came from. I'm a laborer, I work hours per month, I'm glad to see this holiday!

Craig, I think your wife has been watching too many Home Depot commercials.

Well yea, they had a sale on paint! getting up early, get it done "painting", going flying!

I have to work.

Nobody else volunteered so the low man has to do it.
Oh well, it's double time.

well, at least your wife is available with you on this. I'm doing it myself right now. Man, I always hate painting.

Well it ended up being a good day to paint, its raining so no flying, maybe start drinking early then? but it might clear up later so I better wait!

I had my own labor day weekend as well - had to replace a chunk of my kitchen subfloor.

I'm part of the labor crowd. Friday night see leak in the first floor ceiling. Turns out 30 year old shower manifold needs replacing. Nothing like plumbing and soldering thru a small access cover in a closet!

I go to work to relax. When Im home, I actually work.

Same here. More than a few times I was HAPPY to go to work so I could rest up from projects at home.
