Some bike progress pics 78 CB750 SS

Well, I figured this weekend was a good time to make some progress on my 78 750 SS. Some may remember it was a runner when I got it, ahs under 10K miles, it just needed some clean-up, a few areas of re-painting, and a general update--I was going to completely cafe it out with a dunstall rear, but the proportions for the late 70s CBs just were not working, even if I cut the frame, so now I am just doing the updates, slapping on some drag bars, getting the seat cut-down and re-upholstered and getting it back on the road--tires and new brake pads arriving today--gettin' close.

Start point about a year and a half agoin the background)

Test fitting some things after partial tear-down

Re-did many factory connections to bullet connections--cleaned up some suspect wires

Very grungy area below battery drain--needed cleaned up, re-painted:

Test-fitting the seat to see if it needs any more foam work prior to re-covering:

Drag bar test fit for clearance with the tank:

re-painting front brake res/cylinder:

One last look at the mock-up:

Bars are mounted--squared up not shown in the photo--they are not canted down as seen--going to have to shorten up the brake/throttle lines/cables, and re-work all the control wiring in the headlight bucket-, replaced the crap emgo pods with the stock airbox/filter, and ditched the highway pegs, sissy bar and king/queen seat-a few more weeknds and it should be done.

With some creative routing, you may be able to anoid shortening your cables... I was able to avoid it with my cafe build. I was also able to stuff all my wiring inside the headlight bucket. Your bike cleaned up nicely!
