Hey Bell! audio techs, BMW Dension ice>Link ipod help please

So I bought a NOS Dension ice>Link iPod link kit a while back then realized I needed the Dension DSP adaptor since my E39 has DSP. The adaptor is just a DAC (Digiatal to analog conv) module with the correct connectors for the Dension harness and the analog connection for the DSP. The ice>Link i discontinued and the correct adaptor is unobtainium.

DensionUSA appears to be out of business, and I need something that will work. Radio Shack use to sell generic DACs but no more. What would you installers use? Recommendations?

I found this one on Ebay for the DICE iPod links but the seller says it won't work with the Dension link. I haven't asked why it won't work, but my guess is the connectors/terminals.

Not sure on your solution......all the integration pieces I've used were vehicle specific and I never tried to mix and match components from different manufacturers......
I used to use all "peripheral" brand which we bought through aamp of america.....maybe do some research to see who actually built the dension brand and see what other brands it was was labeled as.
I don't have access to all the resources I used to have now that I'm a porsche tech......

You easiest fix may be to buy a whole new unit and sell what you already bought.....just not 100% on this one.....

Bell, thanks for the reply.

I bit the bullet and bought the DICE DSP converter. Since the DICE guys were Dension distributors who ultimately stole the Dension product and rebranded it, I figured it was going to be a plug and plug cross mating.

The connector was exactly the same for audio to the converter.

Besides fishing for a connector that a previous installer (MP3 disc changer) hide, it was all plug and play.

I love having my iPod connected to the car. Wish I had done this a lot sooner.
