Yeah, but I bet none of the Marines b****-slapped any of the pirates!
|
They should have.
|
Maybe the pirates are not complete idiots after all. I am glad no Marines were hurt.

The USMC are "your best friend and your worst enemy"! Spoken as a former USN hospital corpsman who spent 9 years with the Marines.
|
What will they do with the skinnies now??? They should have all been thrown over the side after a nice dinner of pork chops!
|
Really the most remarkable aspect of the story is that the Marines held fire. Fire discipline is paramount for Marines and shows that great confidence that causes fear in the enemy. But, if a round lets loose, it's damn hard to get them to stop (experience talking)!
Also good to see the reputation has retained its ferocity. S/f, Jack |
"They had been showing a bravado," Marine Capt. Alexander Martin said. "But when we got there, you could see the change in their eyes. They decided they'd rather live than die."
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1284190988.jpg "They kept telling us, 'Just give us money and we'll go away,' " Marine Lt. Col. Joseph Clearfield said. "They said if we came aboard, 'We're going to burn you.' " Ahhhhh... yes... who's burning who? Feel that heat in your ears and on the back of your neck, pirate boy? |
The Marines I worked with for 9 years were always a very disciplined, well trained and cohesive group. I was proud to server with them...
