My Ducati 848 with Chinese fairings

Here's my version, the "tricolore". The background is that I lowsided the bike and ruined the left fairing and front and rear fairings. You can get really cool race livery but I decided to get something less flash since the brand already causes a great deal of contempt without looking like a race poser.

The good: perfectly shaped pieces and drill holes. The fit is absolutely perfect. An extra 60 ccs included (see pic)(!). Included all pieces needed and then some. I just left the tertiary bits on. $625 all in. Not bad, considering that good race fairings are about the same price, unpainted, undrilled, and you have to take the lights off.

The bad: a broken piece on the front fairing, nothing I couldn't work around. The ebay seller was uniquely uncommunicative but the fairings arrived in around 20 days, as promised.

You'll have to figure something out for the front fairing wrt securing to the bracket if you're not going to use the mirrors. My big rubber washer is pretty ghetto. You should also have an extra windscreen so you don't have to keep swapping that out. I ended up using the stock bottom fairing.

You also don't receive any fasteners, which means you need to fit all the rubber bits in the holes as necessary. Not a big deal, but definitely adds to the install time. I haven't decided whether to put the pillion on or not, which I think would entail pulling out the latch mechanism and lock from the stock pillion.

In all, if you track your superbike, I'd highly recommend the chinese pieces. They look pretty good and you can keep your stock lights on--that you can't with race fairings. Note that I pulled all of mine b/c I only track the bike. I left the license plate on today for the test ride but there are no lights mirrors or turn signals.

Does that make the bike bilingual?
Looks good!

I can't judge an "italian" bike with "chinese" fairings. Need more specifics.

I once had a Honda 750K with a full Vetter fairing where the big windshield plexiglass cracked and fell off in my lap/arms doing 60mph in the 2-lane twistys. Despite that, it was a good product and combo.

1098 - 848 = 250....

Since this bike is a track rat, or on it's way to becoming one, I might have still gone with good quality 'glass. I think it holds up better in a crash and is more easily repairable.

I'd also start changing things like fairing brackets, fasteners, clip-ons, levers, etc to make them more crash resistant and easier to change when they get bent or broken.

Have fun,
JR

Oops.

I tried to get a fairing bracket but they are very scarce--ended up with an OEM (mine broke in the wreck) and it was just $35 more, amazingly. What were you thinking of wrt fasteners? Dzus?

Dzus fasteners, Cam locks, or any quick release fastener would work.
One piece race tail, with foam for a seat.
Folding levers, designed to prevent crash damage; or, levers modified to break and leave a useable stub.
Lighter weight brackets, especially the front fairing bracket, since you don't run a headlight.
Tach and water/oil temp guages only.
Frame sliders.
Case guards.
Clip-ons with
Two piece clamps, maybe adjustable.
Spare foot control assemblies, ready to mount.
Spares of everything likely to break.
Rock screen for radiator and oil cooler.
Safety-wired fluid plugs.

Etc.
