Living in Pennsylvania, I have a 200ft driveway, 1/2 asphalt and 1/2 exposed aggregate concrete. It as wintered over 2 years and I can see how it is holding up. The concrete was very expensive and I have had sections of it slough off and leave the underlaying concrete exposed. Not a big thing, but it is stained a darker brown leaving a fairly noticeable patch that looks unattractive until it is stained again. I am very, very careful about putting any kind of salts on it and avoid using them. Unfortunately, they still cling to the car and find there way on the concrete causing the problems. The asphalt has needed nothing. I can throw any deicer on it and the combination of sunlight, black asphalt will melt the ice in a few hours. If the area you live in needs a lot of snow clearing or is up a hill, I would go with asphalt.
