A Real Nice Biker . . .

This is a sickening ongoing story . . .
"The incident began just after 11:30 p.m. with a Durham officer following two people on a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of the highway 401, just west of Brock St., Ontario Provincial Police say.

The cop, who was driving a marked police cruiser, claims to have “signalled” the driver of the motorcycle to pull over, OPP Const. Graham Williamson said Saturday.

But instead of stopping, the motorcyclist took off.

As the bike accelerated, the passenger fell off the back, Williamson said.

The passenger tumbled into the live lanes of traffic and is believed to have been hit by “one or more vehicles,” he said.

Remarkably, neither the motorcyclist nor any other driver remained at the scene to help.

The motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead on the highway."

The motorcycle driver left their passenger to die.

We drove by the scene unknowingly this morning & the hwy was still shut with a major jam in the opposite lanes as the OPP did measurements etc. Reading between the lines, I would say a cop was one of the vehicles that ran the passenger over. Reportedly a female. The biker has not been caught yet.

Story Sun

Well, it's sad, but there's not much the biker could have done for his passenger, even if he had stopped. It's also very possible to not know you're lost your passenger. When my wife rides with me, I reach back every few minutes and grab her calf, just to set my mind at ease. On a hwy. with no real handling or steering issues, you might not notice the weight difference if someone on the back fell off.

They still haven't caught the idiot. There is a follow-up story from a near-witness. I won't quote it here. It's a pretty graphic description. Thankfully no pics.

When my wife rode with me (we've given up on 2-up riding now that we have kids) she was always in contact with me. Don't see how I could have NOT noticed her parting company with the bike. We were much more likely to bump helmets than anything else.

No indication it was a Harley.

The only time my wife has fallen off the back is when I've also gone down, so I knew she was going down too. But there are plenty of times when, even if she's holding onto me, I don't notice it. Just found an example of us on my old GS where's she's not even holding on.

That's OK, at least we now know that all Harley riders are dirtbags.

Rick- I hope you're not allowing your wife on the back without at least full protective gear.

Why thank you Forum Marshal.

Inappropriate? Your avatar of a "cock" is inappropriate!
Seriously, I guess it was a bit harsh, but I was also trying to insinuate/illustrate the mentality of those "riders" (squids) who fit the mold of the suspect in question.

Oh, and that is not what sissy bars are for. That's what the 2nd up's hands are for, as well as the rider's periodic reach-backs (especially on long rides). Sissy bars encourage the pax to rest on them. Before you know it they doze off momentarily and then find themselves eating pavement.

Reading the witness account, the bike in question was hauling ass well in excess of 100, (she says 180, 190) and the passenger was hanging on to his waist. She also says she saw both riders hands and was able to judge that one was male and one was female; that part of the account seems unlikely. . . .

I'm sure he'll get caught up with.

If you did not strap her on, this might not happen!
