Tell them you love them while you can.

An old friend finally got here wish and gave birth to her 1st baby last week, a boy.

They came home from the hospital Thursday.

Yesterday she was in a lot of pain so they took her to the hospital.

Her heart stopped and they could not revive her.

Life is unpredictable.

Take advantage of it while you can.

I've been spending a lot more time with my father, but it is very late in the game.

For the past few years he's become more and more "disoriented", and went through a bunch of tests for vascular dimensia and/or alzheimers.
Previously he had trouble sleeping with related depression/motivational symptoms and was taking pharmasuticals which often have side effects.

Typical of our family communication, I denied the signs and he wouldn't discuss it. When his drivers licence was taken away it was just glossed over: Just a change in program.
My epiphany came when he began to struggle to put on his seat belt, and began asking me how to write the date. He just couldn't do it. So far, there are worst days and better days.

The last couple of days we have been going through old photographs while I videotape him. Some of the memories are remarkable("nothing is taboo"), and I'm learning a few things about our family history.
Wish I had more than just a few memories of my grandfather.

Man that sucks! Sorry to hear about your pain and theirs. You are right, telling them and showing them you love them is important!

masraum 09-27-2010 09:07 AM

Wow, really unfortunate.

flatbutt 09-27-2010 09:19 AM

I can't even imagine going through that. Nature is harsh.

myamoto1 09-27-2010 09:26 AM

I can't imagine the emotional trauma involved. The best and worst moments of your life combined. My heart goes out to you and your friends.

crustychief 09-27-2010 09:34 AM

That is one painful bitter-sweet moment. I send my condolences, to the family and to you. Regards,
Sandy
