The Americans got rid of landing craft that didn't have a forward landing ramp in WWII. PLUS the Idjuts.....they forgot their white flags.....

an interesting tidbit -- the famed Higgins Boat (landing craft) was based on a Japanese design

IIRC, a young USN Lt. was watching the Japanese military do some exercises in the pre-war period; saw them use a landing ramp and wrote it up -- the Higgins Boat is based on that


the new idea is to blow past the wet sand beach or marshy entirely and disembark on solid ground to check up on the drones & see if any enemy survived the air assault
