Time to move...again...
$%%#@!!
I'm a little miffed. Shortly after I moved in in April of last year, the electricity in the lower half of the house went out. Short in the wall, took out outlets and all the lights. It was never fixed. Immediately upon moving in, the master toilet exploded, sending water everywhere. It was quickly replaced. The garage door quit operating due to rotting panels a several months ago. it too, was never fixed. I partially insulated the garage last year because I do my work in there and was freezing my arse off. Lotta $ so I could stay slightly above freezing. Door lock on the sliding door downstairs broke, also several months ago, and was never fixed. Needs a frame replacement or something to do so. Most of the outlets here are unuseable. OLD. Ungrounded style. Those outlets that were grounded style, weren't grounded. Landlord came into town a couple weeks ago to visit family and look at the problems with the house. Basically, a it's a remodel of an old house that was never entirely finished. He more or less put ketchup on crap to make it look good. Got a couple outlets replaced. Cool. (but still, not actually grounded) Electricity supposed to be restored to the lower half. Cool. Garage door supposed to be fixed. Cool. Leaking part of the garage supposed to be fixed. Cool. Dining room lights fixed, cool (that hasn't worked for about a year now - switch burnt up) Come to find out, the m0th#*$er accepted a job with Boeing and wants his house back in January, so we gotta move. Which won't be pleasant. From November to January is a very busy time for me, preparing and working for the trade show season (NAMM) getting product ready for people who have display guitars. Then a week out to attend the show. I'm not looking forward to packing up the business and moving to a new location after less than years of being in a good location (despite the issues with the house) This place is almost perfect for working in. Large garage, ample parking, large house, large yard. The price is reasonable at $1700/mo. With the slowness of business this year (better than last year, though) affording the move certainly won't be easy. This place cost me almost $5000 to move into! If we're gunna move and not affect the trade show season, we'd better do it now. Funny thing is, something told me it was going to happen. I'd mentioned it to the repair guy while he was over making the list of things that needed to be done, and he said he would stress to the landlord that the problems with the house are age and "cheapness" related. Aside from the issues with the house, it's perfect. Size, location, storage space, layout, work space, all of it. I've made improvements to the house. I've wired it for internet in the living room (wireless reception fromt he cable location SUCKED), put in phone jacks (there was only one, in the far back corner of the house in a remote room) insulated most of the garage, and generally made the house useable. It wasn't easy to find a place that had everything I needed. Man I'm ticked. |

Wolfe, I know Washington's Landlord /Tenant law well. Let me know if you have questions.
If you have an actual lease through April, it will be very difficult for him to make you move sooner. Of course, it may work out for both of you, since he does need his house back, to up the incentive until you agree to move. Look at $2500 as his first low-ball offer, and start negotiating. |

Wolfe - Let us know your location needs. I have my place east of Renton leased till Summer, but I think it would be ideal for you with 1.5 acre, attached 2 car garage and detached 28 X 36 3 car garage.....Current rent is $1,550......

East of Renton isn't bad. Off Maple Valley Hwy or up on one of the hills?

Basically, from about south Edmonds to about Ballard. Northgate, Greenlake area would be cool. Shoreline excellent. East of the U District....easy I5 access and post office access... Farther South than downtown...and West Seattle... naw....unless it were an excellent place. |
