I must like to flog myself

I don't know why I do this but I keep comparing myself with guys I grew up with, even those I haven't seen in twenty years. I'm very happy for them their success. Bugs me that I haven't accomplished the same or what I consider comparable. I tell myself I do this for motivation and usually it makes me get off my duff and sell more.

Anyone else flog themselves like I do?

I don't sell anything, but yeah, I kind of understand. But I went to my 30th high school reunion last summer and realized I am one of the few with a post-graduate degree and I am with out a doubt the most financially successful. Maybe it happened because I felt I was in a race - I don't know. OTOH, in all my careers - at the time - it just seemed like I was having fun.

Nope, I don't much worry about it; I haven't thought of most of those people in years. It bugs the heck out of my family that I don't recognize most of them when I come home to visit.

Was not sure if I wanted to click this thread.

Was afraid it would have pics.

Monkey, I had the same thought ;)

But yeah, I do the same to myself if I spend too much time in my head. I also went to my HS reunion and was just about the best educated, not of my HS class, but of my neighborhood pals. Still, I'm not satisfied, internally, with my Vet career. I could and should have done better. Maybe next time around...

NOPE! i would go crazy. i lost a great friend. a GREAT friend. IMHO, he married a controlling "b"..but that should have been none of my business, and he started to get really successful. got a great job, bought a great SF home, opened his own business...deep down inside, i got kinda jealous, and we simply lost touch.

now? i have learned my lesson. the rift is too great with my one friend, but i wont let it ever happen again with any others. now i'm just plain happy with everyone's successes. there are those doing better than me, and plenty doing worse..look downhill for the occasional perspective.
