ABC stores do not sell beer in South Carolina. The sell hard liquor.

Although vacationing in Traverse City Michigan it was always "party store"

It was a few years ago, and I wasn't of legal age then, but I grew up in PA (Pittsburgh!) and the State Stores were just for hard liquor/wine. You had to go to a "Beer Distributor" for ales! Is that still the case?

Up here in Boston/the Cape, yeah, it's "packie"

Yup still the rules in PA. Liquor Store is state run. Apparently the PA liquor control board is the largest (or one of the largest) single entities that buys alcohol. I've heard from people in the liquor business that when those guys go abroad, to say France to buy wine, they are treated like royalty.

Still have to go to a Beer Distributor to get beer, and you can't buy anything less than a case. Some bars and restaurants sell 6 packs, but they are $$.

The Liquor Store with the best name is Beaver Liquors in Denver.

When I was in PA I was blown away with the fact that if I wanted to buy beer I had to buy a CASE. The good news it was Yuengling. I choked it down. :)

Why just pull up, when you can pull IN! All 4 passengers can order at once, and no one gets rained in while sitting waiting for the order...

Yup, that's it.

in South Louisiana every supermarket, 7-11 type store, pharmacy, gas station and truck stop sells beer, wine and spirits. Hasn't been a dedicated liquor store around here for decades. well, besides the wine shop we had a couple years ago.
