Grout quesion for Trekkor or those in theknow?

We had just finish a guest bath with a good size shower for a great client. about 2 weeks of usage, the white (everything is white in there)grout is turning gray or should dirty only around the drain area. There's a 2' dia. of this dark grout that I can't seem to get rid off. What do you think? I try bleach and it went away a little but not much. Same grout was use through out. What cause it and how do I take care of this damn problem for them? I will rip out the whole thing out for them if I have to come tomorrow. First time for everything. I hate white, white, and white.

Was the thinset you used white or gray? I think it can bleed through if the grout joint is shallow.

That would be my first thought as well.

Dremel out the bad grout and add new.
Should only take you an hour or so.

What is the drain ring made of? Bras or chrome?
Sometimes it can have a reaction with the grout.

Is it sanded or non-sanded?

I usually make sure the tile setter do not use Gray thinset unless the tile or stone is dark. It is a chrome drain ring. Non sanded 1/16" grout joint. I can't think of anything else that will cause it to discolor like that. Only around the drain? Look like I have to go into it with a dremel. Do y ou think a carbide tip bit will do the trick?

Dremel has a 1/16" grout tool.

Shouldn't be a problem.
Clean it out, re-grout and move on.
