Selling My 1967 Camaro 327..Any Thoughts On What Its Worth? Pics

Guys selling my 1967 Camaro (81K on the clock), it is a bare bones model (not RS or SS)...but genuine two owner car (incl. my current ownership) and 100% straight, zero rust (has a small amount of bubbling at the base of the Vinyl top - but it is superficial but would require removal of the vinyl top to properly fix) , it is a no stories car, all original right down to the hubcaps. My friend's call it a "time capsule".

Car is factory gold but re-painted at one point during its life. It was bought brand new in Colorado Springs and never left. Car is in great condition and runs very well. The 327 was rebuilt about 3,500miles ago before the first owner past away.

Any thoughts on what it is worth? I would really like for it to go to a good home, I will be putting it on eBay.

Thanks!
Yasin

Nice car.
Don't have a value for the car, but I would look at the Camaro magazines available and see if you can get a base line.
Maybe try Ebay with a high reserve to find out what it could go for.
You don't want to give it away.
It is great to see these cars as they came off the line.
They don't look right with the big wheels and so little side wall showing.

My neighbor would be a great home...two '69 z-28s (one is a JL-8 car). I'll try to talk to him today. Are you looking to list the car on eBay or sell it to someone you feel good about?

eBay is crazy the prices are all over the map and trying to establish a baseline has been tough...but I am seeing anywhere from $16K to $22ishK. I agree not wanting to give it away and glad this car does not look cartoonish like most of them right now with the huge Billet wheels etc. Thanks for the compliments!

Pavulon - I am fine selling it privately..let me know what your neighbor thinks. I have tons and tons of pics I can send him (60+ pics).

Bring it to Phoenix when Barrett Jackson auction is going on and advertise it on Craigslist. Lots of car buyers around who aren't willing to pay the BJ mark up, but really want to go home with something.

Because it's so original, it's only worth about $90, but because I feel sorry for you, I'm willing to give you $100.

That would go for very close to 22k at a Mecum auction.

This is the kind of car that I love to see. A known history, no rust (aside from the mentioned bit), no stories. Clean, straight and very original. The fact that it is a strippy isn't a huge issue on a 67 as alot of them were strippy. The 327 is one of my favorite engines. Nice high-nickel block, durable, rev well, I think that year is big journal too, can't remember for sure. Be a big plus if it were a 1.94 head engine (very good chance of that). Lot of people get all ga-ga over the 2.02 head, but for a street cruiser, a 1.94 is about perfect in this displacement.

I think I would spend about a week really cleaning this car. I'm talking about going completely nuts - taking the weels off, putting it on a lift and absolutely cleaning everything. Don't paint, don't strip - leave it original but clean and photograph it. I'd even lift the carpet in the driver's foot well and photograph UNDER that area of the carpet. Same with the trunk - show them what's under the mat.

My opinion is that your best market right now will be overseas. Whereas our economy is pretty demolished, other countries aren't feeling the pinch as bad as the USA. To this market, EBAY and copious amounts of picture are your friends. Every piece of paper you can lay down that proves the mileage will increase the value. Look for registration renewals, oil changes, anything at all. Every receipt and bit of paper will help you.

I'd suggest starting the auction with no reserve at 23K. I picture this car going through for 23 to 28 on ebay. If your documentation and photos are exceptionally good, you may get more than that.

I should probably add the note that "I am not an expert nor did I sleep in a motel 6 last night..."

I think $23 is high, $20 maybe. I saw a restored convertible for $25k, this has to $5k less.

Great looking car. I would keep it unless I absolutely had to sell it. Wouldn't want to sell it to get another car that's for sure. It's going up in value no doubt.

Beautiful car. It would look more original if you could get the ride height down a bit... and level front-to-back. Does it have gas shocks on it?

Many/most cars ride a little higher when hydraulic shocks are tossed and gas are installed... and I'm not talking about super old, saggy hydraulics.

Anyway, that's not the stock ride height and the rear is definitely too high. You could get close to the desired effect by just lowering the rear to the point that it has the same wheelwell clearance as the front.

I would ditch the mudflaps, too... unless they were a factory option.

To give you an idea about prices in Europe, here's a listing of some 50 Camaro's in various conditions.

Agreed - Car is a little high in the back and it is riding on gas shocks, the hydraulic shocks have been in fact tossed by the original owner at some stage. The mud flaps were installed back in the '60s maybe even by the dealer..not sure - I dont care for them either to be honest.

Angela - Awesome post, I am unsure what heads are on the car, thanks for your informative post. I will be happy with anything over $18K.

Sadly due to an upcoming investment opportunity I have to sell it, otherwise I would keep it. Thanks for the compliments

If it has to be shipped overseas I would be fine with that and would help the buyer no problems, especially if it fetched adecent price.
Thanks to all for chiming in, the suggestions and the help! Super appreciated.

Yasin,

If you would be happy with 18K US, then start the auction there. That way if it turns out I'm high (which others think I am and they're pretty smart guys -I would trust them) the car still sells and you get what you want out of it.

People really dig on unmolested original cars. The repaint in factory color is better than a repaint in any other color provided it was done nicely. Alot of these strippy cars wound up hacked up pretty hard or raced. People didn't think about saving them. Everbody knew to save the highly optioned RS/SS convertibles with air, stick, etc., but these were fair game for "modifications".

Nice to see such an original one. Best of luck with your sale!

Sounds great Angela. I know there is a market for these unmolested cars and granted it is not a 4spd big block car, it really is sweet in its own time capsule way. Sad that alot of these cars have been chopped and hacked up over the decades like you mentioned, owners never thought they would be worth anything 40years later, let's see how she does on eBay! Cross fingers.
