Is that graphene, Webb? Cool stuff.

UconnTim97 10-06-2010 04:18 AM

I'll take photo #2 please. :)

(not that the first photo isn't really cool though)

Yea, I saw the Russians just got a Nobel Prize from it.

red-beard 10-06-2010 05:07 AM

I had a girlfriend who was amazed at my 300 thread count sheets. I wonder what those would be like...

Yeah that graphene sounds really cool. They "discovered" it in 2004 but I hadn't heard of it until they won the Nobel Prize. One atom thick? Amazing. This stuff is gonna be used in everything.

cstreit 10-06-2010 05:39 AM

They need to work harder on cheap carbobn nanotubes... Then we'd be in the schizzle!

Dude, you gotta go to at least 800 thread count - 300 is like burlap compared to 800+. When we were first married we had 1000 thread count. Wore those babies out!!! Pretty sure our kids were conceived on that set...

red-beard 10-06-2010 08:14 AM

300 was pretty good back then and these were quite nice. We use 1000 count these days.

It was pretty funny, as this was the crazy eyes girl, that she commented on how nice my sheets were...

:D opulance...I has it.

A woman who gives good bed is almost as good as one who gives good head;) Well, not almost but still good.

quicksix 10-06-2010 11:01 AM

did you see at the beginning, the dogs playing poker at the table in the background?

RWebb 10-06-2010 11:05 AM

Yes, it is a (visualization of a) Graphene sheet.

The two Russian scientist got this years Nobel for it (one has an Ig noble too!) and both are now at U. Manchester apparently.

A lot of work is going to exploit this technology and nanotubes too.

Well it's pretty cool.

I was pretty worried considering who they recently gave the Nobel Peace prize too, I figured this one would go to the guy "promised he was gonna do some amazing physics stuff in the next 100 days if only he was selected."

We NEED nanotubes!

Space Elevator!

Won't need the shuttle anymore.

Graphene is very cool.
