Fun, fun, fun..
 

Had a fun day yesterday driving around southeast Ohio with the local PCA chapter. I will put some pictures in a new thread later today. The real fun started after getting home. Our dogs stay outside in our barn with a fenced area behind it. Just after midnight the husky started barking. It was too late at that point. They had a small skunk trapped in the barn. I removed the dogs from the barn and waited until the skunk got brave enough to leave, which happened at around 3am.

Getting the guts together to go out and bath the two dogs at the moment.

Neil, You probably already know this but... bathe them with tomato juice to remove the smell. Good luck!

Both ours got skunked last Wednesday...tomato juice works.

Raccoon Friday...they had wounded it to the point I decided to shoot it before one of them was bitten.

My dads golden had an encounter with a porcupine years ago......we'll just say the porcupine won and the golden needed about 40 quils pulled out of his snout :D I'd wish a stinky mess over that on any pup......have fun......and yes, tomato juice :D

This is the first time in the 5 years we had dogs that they got close to a skunk. We have had wildlife casualties ranging from raccoons to a snake. This is the first known survivor from their area. Apparently huskies love playing with small furry things.

We knew the tomato bathing trick but I also saw a lot of advise for bathing them in a mixture of 1 liter of white vinegar, 1/4 cup of baking soda and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. (Note to self, remind my wife of the chemical reaction next time). Since I had everything for that and no tomato juice I used this instead. It seems to have helped. Or they smell like vinegar. Needless to say, they are not coming inside for a few days, especially with the house being on the market. And you can breathe in the barn again.
