How to stop a wandering rug?

I have a big area rug placed on berber carpet that won't stay put. Every time you walk on it, it migrates a little bit, and eventually it gets all rumpled up and Ii have to completely re-arrange it. It also form rolling hills on which to trip over in the middle of the night.

I tried rug tape, but it didn't seem to do anything - do I just need to cover the entire bottom of the rug with it?

Any other ideas?

I think plugs look better than rugs, still look fake, but not as fake as a rug....oh...wait a minute....nevermind

I forget the name of the product but it is a tacky rubber mat that you put under the rug. It works well on the rugs we have on hard wood and linoleum floors in our house. It is sold in rolls and you cut it to the size of your rug.
I am not sure how it would work on a berber carpet, but it is cheap at any big box department store.

I use sections of rubbery shelf liner under our rugs. It is tacky but doesn't leave residue. You can get a roll in various colors at most any KMart/Meijer/Costco for about $3.

That's a tough thing to do. The carpet under the rug has a directional grain. Each time you step on the rug and depress the under lying carpet, it comes back up pushing the rug over a fraction.

See if you can get her to wax. Electrolysis is good, too.
