"Thus, had there been no Tatra there would have been no VW. And had there been no VW there would have been no Porsche sports cars - as the Porsche 356 evolved from the VW. So, one can claim a Tatra such as mine is the first true "four-door Porsche" fifty years before the Panamera came out!"

And if Edison hadn't "invented the light bulb" we would all still be reading by candle.

A buddy of mine (who did work for Mikes914 for a while, an old czech of course), has 3-4 of them here and is building them into one good car. Real oddball car, makes a bug look "normal".

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

That looks more like an oil-cooled engine than an air-cooled engine. Where are the cooling fins and ducts and whatnot?

Talk about dinosaur technology. I have worked on a few of these. The engine`s are cool and run very well. It`s the rest of the car thats weird.

Oh that's so weird that it's AWESOME!!!!

Of course, I also like the maserati engined citroen. I'd probably put a small block chevy in one and a bike rack on top. People wouldn't know if I was just cool-way-outside-the-box or if I just needed to have my as$ kicked - LOL!

What's with the fire bomb under the front seat? I could see something to get somebody trying to break into the car, but wouldn't this take out the communist party guy driving the thing?

Heh. So did most performance-oriented 2 -valve OHV motors ever built - unless it had a more sophisticated design, like a squish band or a penthouse combustion chamber with multiple valves.

That whole "hemi" thing is just laughable marketing - boasting about a design that was standard by the 1950's... Kind of like saying "yeh, it's got wheels".

I have to disagree with you on that statement. Not trying to start an argument or anything though. I respect your opinion...

I seem to remember an earlier Tatra that had a cooling fan much more similar to a 911 - eerily so...

He is right. The hemisperical combustion chamber design is not the most efficient. It's an old design that has inherent design deficiencies.

Hemi V8's were very polular in the early to mid 50's, mostly in DeSotos.
