Ok, someone has to try this, leave a McDonalds burger and fries out and see what happens!

RWebb 10-12-2010 12:05 PM

cool!!

we can fire them into space for our Mars bound astronauts to pick up on their way

we can air drop them into wilderness areas for backpackers to eat

the possibilities are endless

I really want Mythbusters to try that. It just seems amazing that bread does not get moldy, meat does rot.

I think if you cook it and keep the bugs away, store in a cool dry place most foods would do this.

Ask any parent who has allowed their 3 yr old to eat a happy meal in the car and they could tell you the same thing. Those meals look the same just hard as rocks months after purchase.

So you are saying that a partially eaten burger can be in the backseat of a car for months and not stink to high heaven and it still look like food (just hard) after a couple of months? You have seen this personally?

PorscheGAL 10-12-2010 01:27 PM

Regretfully, yes. We had a pathfinder where the back seat folded up. I was cleaning it to sell it. Lifted the seat and evidently my son had left a gift. Sad thing is when you can't remember the last time you ate McDonalds. Nothing grows on it and no smell.

red-beard 10-12-2010 01:54 PM

Oranges don't do that. I also don't think that the happy meal would do that in Houston...

Your next calling Lube

They did it in the movie "Super Size Me" to various fast food items. Pretty scary sh@t.

They used to serve Rice Crispy Marshmallow squares for dessert at Texas A&M. If you picked up the square, the plate would come with it. Someone commented that we should forward one to NASA to use to hold the tiles on the shuttle.

Someone else got the bright idea to take 2 of them and adhere them to the underside of the table. We checked them pretty regularly and they stayed there. We would forget for a few days, then weeks, then months, until someone would say: "Hey! How are the 'Space Bricks' doing?"

This lasted from Fall of 1984 through the end of Spring 1985. I think they were gone, or at least the table was moved, by the fall of 1985. Maybe they are still there...

OK folks how about we all email Mythbusters and suggest they try it. They will be scientific about it.

+1000 She`s right, seen it. Fries look edible.

My daughter never cared for McDoglands, my boy always wanted to go, but not for the food, all he wanted was the toy and playland. California is trying to ban the happy meal toys to fight child obesity. McDonald's 'Happy Meals' with toys banned to fight childhood obesity - Telegraph

We don`t eat fast food anymore and only eat out once a month. My kids eat all (most) their vegetables. My boy thinks turnip (rutabaga) is candy. Right now my 11 year old girl just made herself a snack, grapes and local pears.

Even though I'm guilty as charged in the past, I now feel feeding your child fast food is akin to abuse.

No Joke. Many years ago my daughter brought home a McD milkshake, sat it on the kitchen counter and forgot about it. Next morning I found it and attempted to pour out the "melted" milkshake - only it didn't melt. It just congealed into something resembling closed cell styrofoam. As there is no icecream or milk in the McD's milkshake, there out to be a law against advertising them as such...

Hold on there Francis, abuse  Eating out should be a treat not a way of life.

A930Rocket 10-12-2010 05:32 PM

We were at McD's one day and my 2-3 year old son saw an OLD left over piece of hamburger with bun under the play area thing. Before I could get to him, he grabbed it and popped it in his mouth. I thought I was going to puke, but he's still with us 12 years later...

They like doing things that fit in a day or two - this could take some time. Pretty easy to do, just buy a Happy Meal and leave it out. I will pick one up tomorrow and leave it in my lab. It has controlled heat and humidity. I will take pics each day/week and show progress (actually more like stasis!)

There is. that's why they are called "Shakes" and not "Milkshakes"
