my new garage

well, its not done but it is close. here are some pics of the transformation.

here is the "front" of the old garage, well, carport and shop. this is the first day we looked at the house.

and here is the shop being torn down. notice the large "bunker" in the middle. it was really a walk in freezer but mainly the nightmare of my life.

this was the worst 2 or 3 days of the ordeal of getting rid of the bunker. when your instincts tell you not to hire someone to do the job, follow them! instead, he needed the work and hired him to "break up the bunker" even after several times of me asking if he was sure he could do it since the concrete was about 10 inches thick.
so when they broke 2 machines, i suggested burying it, but that was a task itself.

The "freezer" would have made a hell of a smoke house.

T77911S 10-12-2010 05:04 PM

and here i am today. this is the back side. i wanted to be able to open up the carport on both ends but wanted to keep the rain and dirt out, so i put 2 garage doors on the back. the front will have one 16ft garage door and one 9x7 door for the porsche, but the 16ft is still on the other garage, yes i have another 2 car around the other side of the main house.
i also added the french doors onto the "music room".
the front is too messy for me to take a pic.

and finally "elvis" in his new home with the 3.0 rebuild i had to put on hold.
the new part is 24x32 and the old carport is 24x24. so now i have a 56 x 24 garage, i dont have room. actually the big problem is where to put everything.

the freezer was actually the hangout for hurricane hugo, and perhaps others, so the neighbors said. i really think it could withstand a bomb. it could easly sleep 4.

T77911S 10-12-2010 05:11 PM

did ya notice the old tin roof? when they built the garage, they made a mistake in calculating the 4 x12 pitch and came up short. so the carport did not match the shop part. i raised the pitch to match the shop and put on shingles. i did that several years ago.

T77911S 10-12-2010 05:13 PM

i painted the OSB, about half way through i thought it might be a mistake in that the paint may make it start to flake, like the ceiling in the carport. but the white really brightens it up.

T77911S 10-12-2010 05:18 PM

BTW, this will be the cleanest the garage will EVER be. you should see all the junk behind me.
i re shingled the whole house (not all at once), now i cant get down on my knees and put weight on my left knee.

Nice work.

You should dig a hole to that bunker. Now that it is underground it could withstand a nuclear bomb! Lol

you know, when it was in the ground it reminded me of a real "home" bunker i went in as a kid. i could have made concrete stairs out from under the slab.

Lucky SOB.

you know, i might be a redneck. my garage has more SQ footage than my house and the directions to my house include "turn off the paved road".

How many spoons do you own... Thats the real qualifier... That and a 4WD truck.

Beautiful garage but even more beautiful property. I love the low country with all the moss hanging from the oaks.

Dude. Zombies. Seriously.

yes, i will do what ever i can to keep from having neighbors again. i have a very country atmosphere and yet i am close to everything. unfortuantley i can still hear the harley's going down hwy 17. i always say, my house brings my property value down.
here is the google of my house.
i hope it works. mine is the one shaped like a T. my property only goes up to that line NE of the house. the horses made that path.
the judge lives at the top. he is pretty cool. he likes to hear the "little" car in the mornings. he says, "man you go to work early, but i know its time to get up when you go by". he just bought a new black corvette convertable. he is like 100 years old, but pretty cool, just dont piss him off. thats water all around me, kinda like a big ditch, but with fish. its covered in lilly pads now. all that across the road to the left is brooke green gardens. nothing will ever be built there, at least in my lifetime. the house sucks, but i like the peace and quiet.

my house is SW of the pin point. the one with part tin roof and the long peninsula looking field.
