USPS Rant....

Okay, I won an auction at the end of last month for a guitar and amp off of a seller in California on flea bay... The seller mailed the guitar and amp out separately on 10/1.... In the mean time I contacted a fellow Pelican about some guitars he had for sale... Told him which ones I wanted, he sent them to me I received them.. I sent him payment he received it (Thanks Jim!!!)... then finally my amp shows up yesterday but no guitar.... the clerk says well thats funny, that my guitar should have showed up at the same time... so I check today and it hasn't shown up yet... so I contact the seller who quickly returns my email with the delivery confirmation number for tracking... I check the number out and it says that it left the Jacksonville Florida processing center yesterday en route to its location... I go to the post office which is only a couple blocks from my residence and question the clerk on why the package was in Florida? I told her that the shipper had used a professionally printed USPS label with UPC code and I asked her whether my package was en route to me? She said that she did not know where it was going... and that it would have to sit somewhere for a while in order to try and locate it....:mad::mad: I guess the Columbus day holiday wasn't enough.....

They all seem to screw up when you need it, it seems. Can the USPS even track anything like FedEx and UPS? Wit FedEx and UPS, it's nice to see on-line what and where your package is doing.

I remember the UPS guy saying your address was a little wonky but you'd expect the PO to know where it is. Hope it shows up ok.

When I used to deal in parts a lot, I had trouble all around. It didn't seem to matter who the shipping company was.

I say stay away from USPS useless you are shipping out of the country. Insure everything and ask for a signature. If the customer won't be home, ask for a business address.

I actually believe that the USPS is dragging there feet in every manner possible
in order to get that next postal increase that they have been talking about.
Making everything move slowly so that it will prove that they need more money.
I say privatize the USPS and let somebody who knows how to do it and make money,
like UPS and Fed Ex does.

In my experience, USPS delivers packages without trouble almost 100% of the time BUT when something does go wrong, getting the package found and retrieved is very iffy. As in, it may never happen. If it is an important item, then be the squeakiest wheel you can be, immediately.

Crow, you should check the other thread on the USPS.

Don't ask me how they pulled it off, but it showed up today.... From Florida to Deep South Texas in 2 days parcel post... Oh well, the box looks like it was catapulted from California to Florida, but it is all in one piece... time to go change the strings out and jam a while... I wanted to repaint it but it has autographs on it... might just leave it as is....SmileWavy
