Software guys, I seek your advice
I'm a software professional, I've been one for over 35 years. I've done a little bit of everything including programming. I'm currently a Network/Unix admin and I would like to spend some time developing a skill that will allow me to pick up a few bucks in my retirement years. I live away from major Hi-tech areas so I'm wondering if a market truely exists for a guy in his pajamas working part-time from home on software projects. What skills would I need to have to land some work after I retire? Thanks.

It's been three years since I left, but IBM was always looking for "contractor" software people to work from home. It was an attractive position for people at or near retirement that I worked with. The hours were not limited and you could work as much or as little as you wanted since it was all claimed though hours and not salary based.
It might be more work than you want to do, but it seems attractive to a of of people I worked with.
