Genghis Khan
...and the Making of the Modern World.
Jack Weatherford. The most engaging book on history I have ever read. Get it, read it, thank me later.

I will read it, if you promise it's ADD compliant.
For those who like novelized history, I recommend Conn Iggulden, who wrote a series on Khan Conn Iggulden » Books

The fact that I got through it is assurance of ADD goodness.
More books, now, with Conn. Thanks. Quote:

I put it on my list. I will read it after I get done with Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Crusty (I'd like to call you Chief but I don't know your rate or your rank E-7, etc. I hope you appreciate the protocol, it is meant with all due respect, Shipmate),
I am reading Diamond's book as we speak. Excellent. The Khan book made me think...I've only two brain cells, so husbanding resources is paramount.

Also check out "The Horse Soldiers". It is about the first group of GIs in country after 9/11. Rather compelling. Very sad in the prologue. It is a good analogy for why GIs should run operations not politicians.

Bought it a few years ago and it was a very interesting read - definately NOT the Genghis you expect.
