my doctors says i dont have GOUT!
great!! downside? then that means i (we) dont really know what the hell is happening with my feet. my left foot; i have heel pain. plantar fisciltis. i ice it regularly, put Superfeet insoles in everything i wear, and stretch my calf muscles. things have gotten better.
my right foot? i had severe pain in that metatarsal joint. i took my emergency gout meds, and it subsided..doc took some Xrays, and saw signs of previous injury. he said the anti-inflammatory of the gout meds helped the pain. i saw the doc in august, and the soreness is still there. doc said, it gets confused for gout all the time. but three months is a looongg gout attack..he told me to lay off the jogging for one more month. he thinks i have friedberg's disease, or AVN..where a bone gets cracked and dies. he said it hurts like a mother effer. if i push on the joint with my finger, i can trigger soreness. one thing for sure, i never take my feet for granted anymore. i quit drinking alchohol thinking it may be gout..and i need to get lighter on my feet..for my feet. |
I don't know what Friedberg's is but AVN is like what a tree looks like when it rots from the inside. 'Avascular Necrosis'-no blood supply, bone dies. Did doc suggest a whole body bone scan?

Get some better orthotics, I thought I was becoming a cripple then I got a good set of orthotics and it made the world of difference.
Only problem is the orthotics industry has a whole lot of shysters out for a buck. Ask peeps in your area who they recommend. My guy is a Registered Chiropodist. |
You have a PM
AVN is where the bone loses its blood supply. Freiberg's Infraction is what it is called when it involves a metatarsal head, typically the 2nd. Take a toothpick or match, find most painful spot on bottom of your foot, make a spot using grease or lipstick(if you are married, or happen to be a cross dresser) step on the insole, cut a SMALL hole in insole with mark at center, perhaps a cm in diameter, you can always cut a hole bigger. This will take the weight off the involved area. Do not walk barefoot, do not go running, maybe take up swimming or something. The metatarsal head will turn more white on radiograph, and start to flatten out, did you get to see the pics? If you are not in your teens or twenties, it is less likely to be AVN. |
