knife sharpener?
The knife thread got me thinking. Maybe its time to invest in one of those little guys. Anyone use one of those electrical knife sharpeners? I am tire of taking it to the stone, and have no more time in the day to do so. Its bad enough having to keep the woodworking tools sharp in the shop.

I use on of these in my woodshop and for the kitchen and all other knives. I have never before had blades so sharp.

I have this one, it works VERY well. My mother gave me one because America's Test Kitchen said it's awesome.

I just gave a few as gifts, everyone commented how well they worked. |
A 1x32" belt sander for $60 at Sears (or Harbor Freight) will get the job done quickly and is a great addition to your home shop.

Well, except it wasn't a gift... on one of the old knife threads here someone recommended it so I got one... never looked back... 20 seconds and your knife is like a razor. |
How often do you sharpen your knives as opposed to just honing them? I have had a set of knives for 10 years that I just take to the steel before I use them. Am I missing something? Perhaps I should see if they can cut paper or something.
According to what I can find on the web, they should be sharpened at least once per year. Seems like the AccuSharp might fit the bill perfectly for that. |
i send all my kitchen knives to a pro around the holidays..so once a year.
for my pocketknives..i handle it with my accusharp and spiderco ceramic sticks. ..i have no issues. |

I am looking for an easy way out. Run the knifes through every so often. I am just lazy that's all. I have all sorts of sharping equip in my woodshop and do a bit of sharping when needed. More then I really want. 15-20 second to draw a knife through a electrical sharpener will be a huge plus in the kitchen for my lazy azz. I must try this AccuSharp first.
Some of you guys sharpen your kitchen knifes only once a year? |

i pro sharpen my knives once a year, and touch it up with my various, steels, ceramics, accu-sharp periodically. i subcribe to the fact that none of my sharpeners remove any significant material to call it a sharpening. more of a honing. |
A harbor freight 4 sided diamond hone works well for me-around 15 bucks
