i was in the las vegas airport yesterday...

there was an old man wandering about. he had hearing aides in both ears. he was wandering around, clutching a wad of dollar bills. he was mumbling, "starbucks?" ..he would go into a t-shirt store and ask," is this starbucks?" i watched folks walk around him giving him a wide berth. he was obviously "having a moment". the guys at some cheesesteak shop didnt help him at all. i went to him and pointed down the hall at the Starbucks sign..he looked at me like i was speaking chinese. so i offered him my elbow and walked the geezer down there.

the incident made me fear old age. what do you think happened to him? he looked healthy, and was talkative. some barista sold him coffee and walked him back to his gate. she was cool.

then back in the bay area, another old guy was trying to take BART to concord. i overheard him and told him i was going to the same place, and to simply follow me. he was wearing a gold rolex, and looked like an easy target in the oakland airport bart stop. this guy wouldnt stop chatting. he offered to take me to dinner..hahah. i declined. i just wanted to get home.

old age, looks scary.

Hey, if you think it looks bad from your vantage point, just wait till you get there. I know a great lady who is 96 and sharp as a tack. She's booking a raft trip down some river in Texas. At an advanced age though it must be on your mind that you only have a short time left.

Why worry about something you can't control?

You can eat right, not smoke, not drink and you will still get old a frail.

Yes you may be able to squeak out a few more years than someone who drinks and/or smokes but in the end we all end up in the same place.

I hope that doesn't sound depressing. If anything it helps give meaning to our lives.
It's not everlasting so you need to get a move along and do some stuff that matters.

Helping that old man was the right thing to do.
Somehow a large percentage of the population are always too busy to do the right thing.

We have several people in the office who wear oxygen bottles and push a walker to thier desk everyday. Just got to think how did tey get to the point where they STILL have to work past 80 something yrs old.

My goal is 55 and bye bye work. But chances are I will pile myself up into a wall at the local track driving my shifter kart.

Read an article in the Newspaper back in 06 about a guy who was 102 years old that remembered the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. The upshot was that he WAS STILL WORKING i a grocery store...I guess Frisco is one expensive place to live, if you still have to be working at 102 to live there..

Or there is the guy in Ohio that was over 100 and had just bought himself a 425 HP Camaro to tool around town in...
