My DOGS catch RATS! I've come home on two occasions to find a dead rat and a somewhat LIVE rat - both on my couch.
Greyhound and Italian Greyhound. They are all about the chase. |
My last Great Dane caught rabbits. He may have had caught rats and mice too, but never new about that as he probably would have swallowed them hole.

Just got home from Church and found this on the porch!

I draw the line at brids. My cat gets a scolding if he messes with birds. Anything else gets a reward. You should see how he looks at the deer when they come into the yard to eat apples. :)

Our Daschund is a good mouser. She has killed several. She usually eats them whole. No cleanup and no mouse parts or blood. She alerts me when a mouse tries to set up a nest under my storage building.

That's persistence. :D

my cat is a stonecold killer :)
Ironic, a cat named after a bird that wants to kill birds :(
|
A cat named after a cat that wants to eat birds -> Sylvester + Tweety.
|
it is amazing that the cat's prey drive just doesn't take over. wow.
|
No pics, but my cat "Pismo", my kids found her as a ferel kitten about 13 y/o at Pismo Beach leaves a lizard, mouse, rat, or rabbit on my front doorstep every other day. Once in a while she brings a 1/2 live lizard into the house.

Fergie is a smart cat. Prolly had an arrangement with the mice prior to you hearing them... Fergie: "Listen you meeses! Chasen after you gets in the way of my naps and frankly you don't tase as good as the stuff the humans give me so here is the deal - you stay on the down-low and I won't kill and eat you. Oh ya, you have to pay me some good scrapes that you find as well! And no poop'n in the closet! Mouse 1: (in a very high pitched squeel) "We'zzzz be good meeses, OK Kat? No get into big trouble no Kat no. Mouse 2:(in a very high pitched squeel) "We'z be quite just like we'z iz! Find some good scraps we'z did Kat! Like? Fergie: "Thats what I'm talk'n bout! Now its nappy time. Don't make me bite your head off! Weeks later ... Mouse 1: (in a very high pitched squeel) "Kat not know mouse way, we poop and scamp nightime. I'z found place dats warm cozy - plenty clothes. Mouse 2: (in a very high pitched squeel) "Yup Yup! Poop on Kat! Letz see new place..." The day Vash sets traps... Fergie: (thinking to herself) "What the heck is he doing? MOUSE TRAPS! Oh Shyt!!! The jigs up! F***! F***! F****! Stupid rodents! Now I gotta eat a mouse! |
I had a cat called Chalkie. One evening at about half past eight a mouse came out of a gap under a wall. I grabbed the cat and put her nose where the mouse had been and she didn't appear to register anything. Come the next night. She did nothing until about twenty minutes past eight then sat in front of the gap, sure enough the mouse came out a few minutes later and she grabbed it.

Our JRT goes nuts if she gets on the trail of a rodent... She will find the critter too. That dog is vicious with the rabbits too.
