				Porsche Hybrid of the past?
			 
			.....or...a new old 911 smorgasbord? Saw this ad on the PCA.org web site in the Carolinas. A little something here for everyone! 1972 Porsche 911 Targa: Project car with a 912E engine and salvage title, garaged for past 20 years. Newer '74 style front and rear bumpers, hood, front fenders, and doors, galvanized with the side-guard door beams, new clutch, new dual Weber 44idf carburetors & fuel pump, new Bursch tuned exhaust, 915 trans axle with a newer style shift tower, original 15x6 Fuchs, electric flag mirrors, and H-4 headlights.

			There was a point a few years ago where the older cars were updated to the impact bumper look.  That was the "in" thing to do.  We've done a couple of these for different people.  Biggest issue is getting the front piece from the short-hood car where the hood latch attaches closed.  It's in a different spot than the long hood cars.  The rest is really pretty easy. Now the "in" thing to do is backdate a new car to make it look like a long hood but keep all the more modern amenities. Also not unusual for a salvage title car to be stripped of its original drive train. That's where the money probably was, in the drive train when the car was salvaged. Twenty years ago, a 912E engine was probably a giveaway. Somebody built a driver for cheap, back in the day. Now all of a sudden a 72, probably with no or very little rust, is actually worth a fair bit of money... Impact bumpers or not. angela
