Need Some Help With Classifcations in Processes...

Real general - looking for classifications for materials and special considerations that are found in process facilities:
Gas
  • Temperature
  • Flammability
  • Pressure Requirements

Liquid
  • Volatility
  • Melting/Freezing Temperature
  • Viscosity
  • Causticity
  • Acidity
  • Flammability

Slurry (Suspensions)
  • Composition
  • Viscosity
  • (all considerations from II depending on the substance of the liquid phase)

Powder
  • Grain Size
  • Flammability
  • Solid
  • Dimensions
  • Temperature
  • Mechanical Tolerance

Important considerations for all categories:
  • Reactivity
  • Radioactivity
  • Toxicity
  • Stability Conditions

What am I missing?

We all knew you need more class Mike.

Ouch!

NO GREASE FOR YOU!!!

specific gravity for the first two.

Come on now fellas, I know someone out there can add to this list of mine...

Mike,

Would hardness/abrasion characteristics be of a concern with movement of the slurry and/or powders?

And what about shape for powders? (assuming similar to reloading powder - flake, ball, stick, etc)

Excellent! Hardness & morphology - very good. Conductivity as well as static elctrical discharge would be a concern as well.

What else?

widebody911 10-19-2010 08:43 AM

Taste?

For liquid, I assume you meant "boiling" temp and not "melting"...
