Fantastic - good to hear!

Any openings for test pilots? ;)

And is there a new car in your future to celebrate?

I wouldn't suggest coming here to anyone, and there's always a new car in my future.:D Right now I'm concentrating on the new ti, I just found a smoking deal on H&R coilovers for it. Once I'm done I'm FINALLY going to get into autocross.

That is really excellent news, Matt...I know how much it means to your family to be able to stay in the area.

Well done.

And, what new Ti...did I miss a stitch in the Matt car afghan?

Welcome back to the harness! :D

It's a work in progress Paul, I haven't really posted on it much. It's a 1995 318ti with a supercharger and a few other goodies. It needs a little sorting but is a solid car. I sold my Land Cruiser a while back so this is my replacement DD, which gets about 5x the MPG.

Congrats, good find, especially in the aviation community. As far as those union talks, let that be another thread.

Yes but Mark you are talking about a skilled workforce... You can't just run out and gather up a bunch of pilots(or can you?) There are probably a ton of people in KS alone that would kill to have those factory jobs at $20/hr... There is really no reason to be paying unskilled labor that much.

When your wife & children are at 35000 ft going 450 Knots you had better hope those "unskilled labor" pukes know what they are doing.
People out side of the industry have no idea what it takes to build an aircraft.
Sure, there some menial jobs but folks progress up the ladder....unless they like bucking rivets for life.

Uneducated does not necessarly mean unskilled. I do a job you couldn't handle on your best day and make considerably more than than 20 bucks an hour.....keeping your kids safe, you idiot.

Granted, the fellas at Hawker screwed the pooch.....but only they will pay for it.

I say start another thread about unions, this is going to ruin this thread!

Touchy much? My point there was more about the fact that these are people that recieved the training for the job they have on the job and did not spend 6yrs in college like I am working on for my Pharm D. I realize they have talents and a college education is worth its paper weight in some fields. But there are some assembly jobs that a $15/hr set of hands could do just as well. This whole using the union to break the company is BS, and the same goes for the car companies in my opinion.

And actually the fellas at Hawker screwed the pooch for the entire town... That is a large tax base that will be moving elsewhere....
