Piece of ___ GE MicroWave rant

aaarrrrrgh, piece of shyte. The darn plastic handles are just crap. Jeez, $50 for the darn plastic part that does not last at all.

Yikes, WB15X335 what a nightmare of a part number. Why can't they make goods stuff.

Their Monogram seem to be pretty good. Sharp still makes the best microwaves.

ErVikingo 10-19-2010 08:16 PM

Sure enough it had to break today when I'm off to Sebring tomorrow...

I have the GE Mongram refrigerator and freezer. Would not recommend anyone buy one. Cheap crap for the 5 grand plus cost per unit. On my second GE microwave in 8 years. The GE double stove is real good at needing new touch pads and controllers. There's better stuff out there instead of G E.

My little GE is about 4 or 5 years old - works great. No handle though.

Almost all of my appliances are GE now, I get a good discount from some generous arrangements through previous employees and their service has been really great.

Knock on wood...

I gave up on them after I had a house with GE (Roper) and apartments with GE appliances in them. Maybe they have some other line besides "cheap" but I'll never find out. The Roper microwave was a downgraded version of an identical GE where when you used the microwave it'd run the vent on high for no reason other than to be loud and make the buyer step up and not get the Roper. The GE dishwashers were loud, but probably the cheapest models they made. Everything else was basic apartment-grade stuff that felt like it would fall apart at any moment but will probably work and annoy the user for decades before quitting.

They very well may have a better lineup at the higher end, but the low end stuff greatly diminishes the reputation of the brand as a whole.

The best part, I jus spoke with a vendor; he asked me if I want a 3 pack... as "they break all the time". Guess I've been lucky.

Time to breakout the epoxy to strenghten the new one before installation.

What do they look like? I'd just have one CNC'd and be done with it if the unit otherwise works fine.

Really? $5,000 for a refrigerator/freezer??? US Dollars???
I paid less than that for a heavy-duty, 46 cube commercial unit in our restaurant.

Carbon fiber with titanium reinforcing should work well.

porsche4life 10-20-2010 08:07 AM

No kidding. 5 large for a fridge?! Did the salesman lube you up good before he raped you?

I wouldn't pay $50 for a microwave, let alone the handle.

Carbon fiber is sooooo 2000. Some Magellan M5 fiber'd do the trick.

Like everything else, they are made in the same factories in China as every other brand of microwave.

I still have a Samsung microwave from 1985. My dad had the good sense to buy a white one, so it doesn't look dated either.

We had all GE Profile appliances and as they fail, we are replacing them with better quality appliances... We have learned a very expensive lesson.
