WE LIKE SNOWBLOWERS!

as a train nut over the years i was able to ride from phx(when we had a station-now in maricopa az) to san diego and L.A. and back, the grand canyon railroad numerous times, the white mtn scenic railroad which was actually the apache railways for logging n.e. az. numerous times now defunct, durango silverton numerous times with the kids, chama railroad-3 times now, georgetown railroad in color, manitou springs, the ski train to winter park numerous times, cripple creek railroad.

we LIKE CHOO CHOO's and our happy hunting grounds are smack dab in the middle of the "salad bowl express" BNSF route. so over the years we have seen our fair share of trains and enjoyed the hell out of it. always fun when totally bored NOT seeing game, to go over to double track mainline and watch the units pull the grades into williams and flagstaff.

if theres a railroad museum we are ON IT!

the museum in golden colorado is mucho bueno as is the gunnison colo museum.

and as another value added bonus we have taken the dirty bikes over quite a few defunct railbeds of various r.r.'s that have gone under, in various states.

to look at the original denver and rio grande route all across colorado there wasnt very many places it didnt go in its heyday.

also we have ridden over donner pass and thru the tunnels and snowsheds built back long ago. we found a bunch of chinese graves on donner pass and a bunch of old trinkets, fetishes, an opium pipe, bottles, horseshoes etc.

the train from nogalas az. to matzatlan messiko over spring break when i was in college was a blast.

always a blast and i would give my left huevos to go ride a snowblower winter train anywhere.

we also took the train "royal hudson" out of british columbia which was wayyyy cool.

right now i have amtraks schedule route brochure and i would love to catch their train from maricopa, az. to florida and hit new orleans along the way and then FLY BACK!

conned the younger kid while he was in bloomington , ill over labor day to take amtrak into chicago. he had a BLAST and spent 3 days there exploring, and said it was great. i think the amtrak gig, his prior history with trains and "dads" explanation of reality that there are VERY FEW CRADLE TO GRAVE jobs anymore, with the exception of the r.r.'s that he saw the light as to how much a layoff SUCKS! ask me how i know.
