Just me and My Lil Girl - She Made Me Dinner Tonite!

My Wife and Son flew up to Iowa for a long weekend - harvest is finishing out plus Papa has his tractor auction this weekend so its just me and my lil 7yr old girl. She had science camp till 6 tonight so when she got dropped off she ran up, gave me a huge hug and said "Daddy, we are gonna have a great weekend! I wanna make you dinner. You watch the World Series while I do it OK?"

Hmmm. Sweet! She came up with the menu all on her own.

So she proceeded to make her version of a three course dinner:

1st Course - Chicken Soup, orange and grapes on a stick




2nd Course - Green Beans and Walnuts




3rd Course - Sunflowers with Cheese and Tomatoes and of course grapes! (she loves cooking with grapes!)






She has Daddy's undivided attention...even while she is sawing logs right next to me! She is my favorite person.

That is one of the most beautiful meals I have ever seen. You will be glad you took the pictures. Your mention of her sawing logs........only a parent knows the feeling in your heart when you look upon the face of your sleeping child. My sister had her first child about four years ago, and after about a year, I commented to her about the extreme, intimate meaningfulness of just looking at the face of your own child. She said (and I will always remember), "It's like looking into the Sun." Yup.

I think you two should make cookies tonight. She can help you decorate them.

She does love to bake but I promised her we would go to Yogurt Story tonight. For those of you who do not know what Yogurt Story is, it is frozen yogurt which really tastes more like frozen custard. They have 18 different flavors and a bunch of toppings from fresh fruits and berries to crumbed up candy bars to various other toppings. You get and make your own. They charge 0.35/oz. I don't leave there without dropping $5.00 for each!

She had a soccer game today - she did great, scored the first goal. Perfect cross to her she dribbled twice and lifted above the two defenders. Classic! They won (which they normally do). She then wanted to help me clean the garage but kept finding various items (golf clubs, basketballs, scooters...) that offered distractions. We decided to have dinner at the Shops in Highland Village - went to Patrizio's for pasta and Nestle for ice cream, walked to various girly shops and them visited one of her friends were they played Wii while I helped install weather stripping for them (he is all thumbs!).

Tomorrow is Halloween. That should be fun.

Make up came off pretty easy. The take was good. The upside is that she doesen't have much of a sweet tooth. She was more interested in having enough to share with her brother (I don't think he shares that idea!)
