How many times did everyone tell you do not get them close to water???

Your Christmas present might be "coal in the stocking!" this year! :)

I'd never heard of water being a no-no. I always heard that soap was a no-no and possibly heavily acidic food.

I normally us a plastic brush and warm water on mine. If I've got something more stubborn that needs some scrubbing, I'll use a little olive oil and some salt to scour with a paper towel. Just a bit of oil with some salt in it will get anything more stubborn out.

I use water to clean every time - run it in there while the skillet is hot. I've only been doing it for a few decades tho, so there could be problems down the road...

Good work, Cliff! I'm going to get a bottle of flaxseed oil at our local health food store (it's in the refrigerated area) and season the iron skillets we have...
