Not a good day to be piloting a 1000hp Lamborghini

The driver lost control of the Gallardo after he pulled the chute going well over 200mph, then goes airborne. At least he walked away from the crash.

Underground Racing Lamborghini crashes at Texas Mile, driver survives

Yep...if he had the room, should have waited before popping the chute.

Was the cameraman in another car doing 250? God that footage was horribly shaky.

Almost looked like he left the track, hit something and went airborne. Waaay too tough to see from the video.

What did he need a parachute for? That caught the crosswind, and bam! Should have just used the brakes. Yeah, I am an armchair (or couch, actually) dragracer .

Looks to me almost like the nose dug in and he went end over end.

It's really great to hear that the driver walked away, that's good stuff.

He crossed the 1 mile mark at 235mp/h and the end of the track is very short as this is an old airport runway and has a tall berm at the end of the runway as well, factory or even upgraded brakes do not cut it..hence the parachute.

You know what, I think you're right. He takes a right turn off the course into the dirt at around 1:21, probably burys' the nose shortly after and starts the cartwheels.

Leaving the pavement is probably what started it.

That guy comes to our local "Cars and Coffee". I'm guessing he might skip the next one. Here's a cell phone pic I took last month...

Didn't something similar happen a year or two ago in Twin Turbo? Perhaps they didn't fly off the track, but I remember a spin at about 200mph.

Listening to the wind noise in the microphone, it seems stupid to try a 200+ mph run with that much wind.
