nah...just buy that kiteboard, get angry at fellow kiteboarders, refuse to sell it to anybody here in the US, send it to turkey, and then constantly mention your new toy....a Dark Highland Green Para-sail

I windsurfed for about 12 years. You are constantly buying new equipment, breaking things, breaking your body, the girls in minimal bikinis are nowhere around a windy beach. You are absolutly exhausted and have to unpack the car and wash down the gear. You have to go out a number of times a week to keep your sailing fitness up. I only liked big wave sailing but had to sail back and forth accross the *** harbour to keep my skills up waiting for big wave days. Kite sailing isn't much different :(

I hear ya. I windsurfed for 20 years, and gradually got out of it for the reasons you invoke. But kiteboarding got me excited again: equipment is lighter, easier to carry, goes faster in lighter winds, and there is that third dimension aspect to it. Got me a trainer kite already, and I will take a lesson next spring.

Umm, a friend who was a sponsored windsurfer said much the same thing and has converted. Maybe I should try it.

Last year in Queensland Australia people where getting on the bus with boards and small backpacks and getting off the bus 5 or 10 miles down the coast. It suddenly occured to me they where kite boarders wanting a fast downwind run. Wow, you couldn't do THAT with a windsurfer.
