Boat Questions
 

OK, I have received the go ahead to get another boat as long as I sell my current boat. The current boat is a 18.5 Carolina Skiff and I will hopefully be able to sell her within a few months.

So, I am looking for boat advice and here is my list of desires...

- Must be a V-hull. No more getting pounded for me and my wife.

- I want a shallow draft Bay Boat. One that is good in shallow waters (not super skinny but shallow) and can handle 2-3 foot seas if I decide to take her down to Mexico Beach.

I am thinking it has to be 21 feet long....is this acceptable for the seas I am describing? Are there any suggestions for gunnell heights or basically whatever advice one can give that would be groovy.

Forget the boat and buy a 2-3 basket case long hoods.

Will be cheaper.

Seriously, here on the Chesapeake boats are designed for the most prominent wave spans and sea state conditions. I think, too lazy to do my homework, that spanning three successive wave spans is ideal.

One of the best bay boats around here in the PNW. Light, built, fuel efficient, great ride, built for fishing and easy to tow.

Check out small catamarans, very shallow draft plus stability. Can handle rough water if it has wing clearance. More interior area for a given size. easier to drive = smaller engine, less fuel consumption.
I have a 12' Livingston that gets around well with 15 hp, planes with four plus surfboards on-board. I keep mine very simple cause it serves as tender for my tri, and is hoisted aboard and flipped over for storage in the tramp area. Can be set up with Bimini and forward steering for more comfort. 16' to 18' makes for a nice size boat.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1288643888.jpg
